In detail
Contextual Inquiry combines observation and interview in the real usage context. Instead of asking people in the abstract, it makes concrete actions, artifacts, interruptions, and decisions visible while the work happens. Questions arise directly from observed behavior and can be clarified immediately with examples. That turns real behavior into robust workflow and problem hypotheses.
Facilitation
Prepare an observation guide, consent, privacy notes, and a note-taking structure. Ask participants to explain what they are doing out loud without interrupting them too often. Schedule synthesis time immediately after each session while context details are still fresh.
