Deep dive
The Hooked Model was developed by Nir Eyal. It describes a four-step loop: a trigger, external or internal, leads to an action made as easy as possible. A variable reward reinforces the action through uncertainty and attention. An investment by the user, such as data, content, relationships, or configuration, increases the likelihood of returning on the next trigger. Over time the loop can build habit.
Model the loop for one concrete user situation and test every step against real user value. Add a manipulation check so engagement does not become a trap.
