Plan my session
Plan a concrete work block with agenda, roles, preparation, and a copyable result artifact.
Session: Mind Mapping
The plan translates the method into a concrete facilitated work block. Your inputs flow directly into the session brief and work artifact.
Method session with 1-10. The plan uses the existing method logic and the runsheet.
RunsheetUse the session for shared understanding. Contributions are collected visibly, assumptions are aligned, and open differences remain traceable in the artifact.
The session works directly toward Mind Map. After the session, the artifact should be shareable, reviewable, or reusable.

0-3 min
3 minPlace the guiding question centrally and sharpen it to one sentence. If the question contains more than one idea, split into two maps. Hint: Vague questions such as "our products" create arbitrary maps. Sharpen until a concrete decision or learning objective is central.
FacilitatorMind Map - 2
3-13 min
10 minCollect main branches silently or in rotation. Limit to up to seven branches, with one noun or short phrase each. No sentences, no evaluation. Hint: If a branch already contains a solution ("Migration to X"), place it as subtopic under a broader theme, not as a main branch.
FacilitatorTopic Clusters - 3
13-30 min
17 minAdd sub-branches two to three levels deep. Mark cross-links with arrows or a second color. Park open questions separately. Hint: At more than four levels of depth, the map loses purpose. Better open a new main branch or move detail to a follow-up artifact.
FacilitatorOpen Questions - 4
30-40 min
10 minMark clusters and gaps. Select three to five relevant areas for next steps with owner and follow-up artifact. Hint: A mind map without selection is still only brainstorm output. If no three areas are marked, the result is not translated into next work.

Session Brief: Mind Mapping
Goal
Artifact: Mind Map
Working Question
Which terms, subtopics, and relationships around the guiding question are relevant, and which gaps become visible?
Context
Guiding question in one sentence; context and target artifact (for example backlog input, glossary, stakeholder brief); known terms or tags already established and intended to be reused.
Setup
- Format: Method session
- Duration: 15-45 min
- Mode: Workshop or async
- Participants: A facilitator who holds the guiding question and clustering rules; one to nine co-thinkers with expertise related to the question; one optional scribe for post-session digital redraw.
- Owner: A facilitator who holds the guiding question and clustering rules
- Participation mode: Team round, shared work and alignment
- Outcome logic: Finish artifact
Participation Logic
Use the session for shared understanding. Contributions are collected visibly, assumptions are aligned, and open differences remain traceable in the artifact.
Outcome Logic
The session works directly toward Mind Map. After the session, the artifact should be shareable, reviewable, or reusable.
Input
Whiteboard, A3 paper, or Miro/FigJam board with central node; pens in at least three colors; timer; prepared guiding question as one sentence; a list of sources participants can open in parallel.
Preparation
Write the guiding question in the center. Create four to six main branches or leave them empty depending on maturity. Set timer for first phase. Rule: start silently, no evaluation in first 5 minutes.

- Working question, owner, and target artifact are visible.
- The result fits Mind Map.
- Use date and guiding question slug in filename. Store follow-up iterations as copies with version number; do not overwrite prior maps. Keep selected prioritized areas separately in a markdown outline.
- Open questions are noted as follow-ups.
- The next review or decision point is scheduled.
